Raisin is the Latin word racemus which means cluster of grape or berries.
Raisin is a dried grapes.It is well known ingredient of kitchen.
Raisin eaten raw or used in cooking or mostly used in sweet desserts.The word rasin is reserved for Dark -coloured dried large grape.
Varieties of Raisin:
Raisin varieties depends on the type of grape used and are made in variety of size and colour like black,green,Brown,yellow,seedless varieties include sultana.
Raisins are made primarily by sun drying process.
They are small,swwet in flavored with wrinkled texture.Most of raisins are small,dark,&wrinkled.
Golden Raisin:
This are generally dried in dehydrators with controlled temperature and humidity.
Black Raisin:
This are the much Darker and have a tart,tangy flavor.
Chemical constituents of Raisin:
Raisin contain 72%of sugar by weight.most of the fructose and glucose .They also contain 3%of protein & 4-7% of dietary fibers.
Raisins are low in sodium &high in potassium.no cholesterol.
It contains essential vitamins and minerals.
