Potatoes were introduced to Europe from America in the second half of the 16th century by the Spanish.Potatoes are native from America. And today potatoes are integral part of much of the world's food supply.In India potatoes are mainly used as food sorce and as culinary material.
Potato plants are herbaceous perennial.There are 5000 varieties of potatoes worldwide.3000 of them are found only in Andes ,mainly peru ,Bolivia,Ecuador,Chile,and Colombia.
A study published in 2017,According to The American Journal of clinical Nutrition found that peoples who ate fried potatoes twice a week saw an increased risk of death.study examined potato intake in 4,400 peoples between the ages of 45 to 79.By the end of eight years study 236 peoples had died.Researchers found that those peoples who ate fried potatoes ,French fries,and other fried potato items were more than twice a week as likely to have died..

In 100 grams raw potato provides 77 kilocalories of food energy.
